Our quintessential street legend went for a complete makeover, and is now back in our adorable Vintage Line series which many consider to be a historical masterpiece. The new Ultron 28mm has a modern aspherical design that offers an improved optical performance, is smaller, lighter and even a bit sharper than its classic predecessor. Choose between the Type I or Type II if you time travel to the 1950s or the 1970s respectively.

A wide-angle lens that combines a barrel design reminiscent of the styling of a classic lenses from the 50s & 70s, which is considered to be a historic masterpiece. Our Vintage Line lenses offer optical performance that matches modern day photography equipment. By suppressing the maximum aperture value to a practical level i.e. F2, we were able to acheive both compactness and high optical performance from this lens

 

Main features


● Classical exterior - a classical design reminiscent of the famous lenses released in the 1950s (Type II is in the early 1970s). All parts are made of metal and have excellent texture and operability, providing the joy of owning a lens

● Modern lens design - in consideration of use in digital cameras, we have adopted an optical design consisting of 10 elements in 7 groups with measures against color cast around the screen. It maintains good image quality on both film and digital

● The shortest shooting distance is 0.5m interlocking with a rangefinder. It is possible to focus up to 0.5m beyond the shortest shooting distance of 0.7m. It is very useful when shooting with a camera equipped with a live view function

● Focusing knob (Type I) with excellent quick shooting performance can be adjusted with the focusing knob in addition to the distance ring. You can intuitively grasp the distance setting by touching the knob, which is effective for taking snapshots

● Focusing lever with excellent operability in Type II offers a good finger grip support that is quick and reliable in focusing operation

● Two optional bayonet lens hood - the circular LH-4N with slits and the crystal coated rectangular LH-12 are sold seperately 

● A reliable manual focus operation is acheived with fullly metallic helicoids that are processed and adjusted with high precision. The use of high-quality greases to produce an appropriate torque providing smooth & delicate focusing adjustments

● The lens is installed with rangefinder interlocking mechanism, offering precise focusing operation with both digital & film rangefinder camera bodies

● Full-size image circle that supports full-frame 35mm format. In addition, it achieves a very compact style when compared to interchangeable lenses for single-lens reflex cameras
