The mighty APO-Lanthar has now graced the 28mm world! What more to say about a lens whose optical performance is quite simply extraordinary. Using latest technology this lens is even shorter than its bigger sibbling 35mm. As with all APO lens design - includes apochromatic color correction, floating lens elements for better close focusing performance, two double sided aspherical elements, five abnormal partial dispersion elements and superior multi-coating for outstanding flare control. If this wasn't enough, there are 12 aperture blades for circular bokeh, 0.5m MFD, beautifully designed petal hood included! A highly mystical lens!

Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 28mm F2 Overview
The new VM APO-LANTHAR 28mm F2 Aspherical is the best performing wide angle lens in Voigtländer history. Optimized for M-mount full frame sensors, its apochromatic design reduces the axial chromatic aberrations of RGB, which comprise the three primary colors of light, to practically zero, thoroughly eliminating various aberrations and pursuing the ultimate performance in terms of resolution and contrast reproducibility.

Optical glass and mechanical components that deliver high performance
The lens employs floating elements for improved close up performance. Of the 12 elements in 8 groups, 6 elements are made using anomalous partial dispersion glass, while 2 elements have aspherical surfaces on both sides.
12-blade aperture diaphragm for beautiful bokeh
The 12 aperture blades are close to circular shape at all apertures and render bokeh from point light sources beautifully.
Minimum focus distance of 0.5 meters
The lens focuses beyond the minimum rangefinder-coupled focus distance of 0.7m all the way down to 0.5m by live view to get even closer.
Petal-shaped reversible bayonet hood included.
The metal bayonet hood is specially designed for the 28mm APO and features a petal-shaped design. This unique hood increases flare production while reducing vignetting of the frame lines. Reversible it’s also included with the lens.
Manual focus for reliable focusing
Employs a very precisely machined and adjusted all metal helicoid unit lubricated with high quality grease to realize smooth focusing operation with just the right amount of torque. This enables very precise focusing.
Bayonet type VM mount
Uses the VM-mount lens mount compatible with Leica M-mount.
Installed with a focus-coupling system
The high-precision rangefinder coupling mechanism enables precise focusing in focus critical situations such as when shooting at or close to maximum aperture.
