The APO-LANTHAR 28mm F2 Aspherical is a high-performance wide-angle lens for full-size (Nikon FX format) mirrorless cameras with Nikon Z-mount, designed as the APO-LANTHAR series for ultimate performance. With an apochromatic design that reduces axial chromatic aberration of RGB, the three primary colours of light, to as close to zero as possible, the APO-LANTHAR series achieves performance that will revolutionise the value of wide-angle lenses. With its tight styling, it also offers high manoeuvrability and good handling.

 

Designed exclusively for the Nikon Z mount

Optics optimized for the image sensors of mirrorless cameras with the Nikon Z-mount are implemented. The lens has a full-frame image circle and can be used with both full-frame (Nikon FX format) and APS-C size (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras.

 

Apochromatic design

This design thoroughly eliminates various aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations and pursues the ultimate performance in terms of resolution and contrast reproducibility.

 

Optical glass and mechanical components that deliver high performance

Of the 12 elements in 8 groups in the optical configuration of this lens, 6 elements are made using abnormal partial dispersion lens, 2 elements have aspherical surfaces on both sides, and the lens also employs a floating mechanism.

 

Information communication with the body by electronic contacts

This lens is equipped with electronic contacts and realizes communications between the lens and the body. In addition to Exif information and in-body image stabilization (3 axes), by combining with a body compatible with communications and the latest firmware*1, three types of focusing support functions ( [1] focusing by color changing of the focus point frame [2] peaking function focusing and [3] focusing with the enlargement button) are supported.

 

Manual focus for reliable focus operation

Adopting a full-metal helicoid unit processed and adjusted with high precision and high-quality grease that produces an appropriate torque, focusing with a smooth operation feeling is realized. It enables fine focus adjustment.

 

*1　Please use the latest firmware version of the camera body; bodies released before 2020 (Z5, Z6I, Z6II, Z7,Z7II, Z50) may not perform as well with older firmware or some functions may be limited. Please check the body's instruction manual for information on checking the firmware of the body and obtaining the latest firmware.
